Defender Lauren Turner reflects on the game yesterday as the team came away 4-2 winners against Accrington Stanley Ladies Reserves and, seal their third win of the season.
"Yesterday's game almost felt like a local derby playing against our neighbours Accrington Stanley Ladies. It was a great game from start to finish, and at the beginning it took us a while to settle and we had a slight slip up which saw us go 1-0 down, but from the restart we played some quick passes and managed to pull it straight back to 1-1! Despite creating numerous chances throughout the first half we struggled to find the back of the net.
At the half time whistle it was 2-1 to Accrington Stanley and we knew we needed to do better in the second half. After a constructive team talk we went back out and gave it our all, and within the first 10 minutes we had pulled it back to 2-2! From then on, we found our composure and played the ball around better, and we soon went up 3-2!
Later on in the game, Stanley broke forward from a goal kick and after a saved shot from our goalkeeper Naomi, a second one was fired towards goal, and I was over the moon to save the goal heading it almost off the line! The team kept on battling to keep us in the lead and we got another goal from a freekick which was headed in by Nadian Mason.
Each player gave their all and we played really well. The game finished 4-2 to us which felt really good! To have won all three of our league games so far is an incredible feeling! We will be back at training on Tuesday working hard ready to go again next Sunday."
